Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin

I received an email today that informed me that Elder Wirthlin passed away on Monday. While he will me missed greatly by his family and the membership of the church, it is hard for me to be sad because I feel it is a cause to rejoice when any righteous, faithful servant of our Heavenly Father is called home.

I looked forward to his talks every conference. When I was a missionary, one of the qualities we were encouraged to develop was quiet dignity. Elder Wirthlin was one of the people who best represented this trait to me. In his quiet, understated way, he bore witness of the Savoir and testimony of His Plan of Happiness with great strength and power. I will miss hearing Elder Wirthlin each April and October, but his testimony will always be with me.
